Give the Gift of Dignity: Sponsor YMCA Memberships for Our Guests

Giving Tuesday is almost here, and with it comes an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our OBX Room in the Inn guests.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our community, we launched a Giving Tuesday campaign to provide YMCA memberships for guests after our shelter season ended. The impact was immediate and powerful. Guests enjoyed using the pool, working out, taking regular showers, and having a safe place to spend their days. It offered not just resources, but dignity, wellness, and a real sense of belonging.

Because this effort was so successful, we are bringing it back again this year.

Our 2025–2026 season runs from November 1, 2025 through April 30, 2026. Throughout this time, we work to help our guests prepare for a stable transition once the shelter closes for the summer. But limited income and few available resources make that transition incredibly difficult. Access to showers—something so basic, yet so essential for health, confidence, and employment—becomes one of the biggest challenges.

A YMCA membership may seem simple, but for someone experiencing homelessness, it can be transformational.

It provides:

• Daily access to showers

• A safe, welcoming place during the day

• Workout facilities that support physical and mental health

• A sense of community and inclusion
