Below is a list of just some of the services we have provided so far in the 2024-2025 season:

-Assisted 6 guests travel to Elizabeth City to apply for new social security cards, enabling them to seek employment. Currently, 6 are employed.

-Helped a guest secure an eye exam and eyeglasses. Also assisted the same guest in completing applications with Interfaith Community Outreach and Outer Banks Relief Foundation for dental work assistance. The guest requires most of his teeth to be extracted and needs dentures/bridge. These services have been approved and initiated. This involved numerous phone calls, emails, and providing transportation to appointments.

-Helped a guest connect with Crossroads to facilitate his entry into therapy. He has attended his initial appointment, and his second one is set for next week.

-Facilitated detox for two guests through our various partnerships. One guest successfully completed detox, has returned to our program and has recently received his 30-day chip at AA. The second guest left for a long-term treatment facility in Orange County, California. This guest maintains contact and is doing very well.

-Helped a guest arrange an appointment with a local dentist for an examination and cleaning. This guest is now up to date on dental and medical appointments.

-Assisted a guest connect with Interfaith Community Outreach for assistance with his car payment until his first paycheck arrived. We also ensured his cell phone service remained active. This guest has now secured a job and is getting back on track.

-Helped a guest obtain and finance his birth certificate from Alaska to acquire an ID and a social security card.

Furthermore, the Outer Banks Health van was present at the intake center on January 9th to offer health screenings, A1C tests, and flu vaccinations to our guests. The health van is set to return in July, after the season concludes. This will enable us to follow up with guests, conduct another health screening, and address any additional needs they may have.

We have applied for and funded several housing applications. Of all of the applications submitted, three guests have secured housing with move-in dates on April 1st and 15th. RITI has utilized a grant to fund to the move-in costs.
