Intake Worker/Driver

Job Description

 

Position Summary:  The Intake Worker/Driver ensures that guests of the RITI program are sober at time of transport and ensures a smooth transition from the RITI Center to the RITI shelter space. The Intake Worker/Driver reports to the OBX RITI Executive Director. 

Work Schedule: November 1 – April 15, approximate 25-35 hours/week flexible shifts: 4:00PM-7:00 PM; 8:00-11:00 AM shift return from Shelter to Intake Center; may have rotating schedule with some holidays AM and PM

 

Fair Labor Standard Act:    Non-Exempt          

Program Responsibilities:      

 

  • Ensure no guests enter center before 4PM unless special arrangements have been made

  • Assist as needed with new guest paperwork, including background checks

  • Breathalyze guests when entering center, randomly, if the situation warrants, and or if directed by the ED

  • Drug Screen guests randomly, if the situation warrants, and/or if directed to do so by the ED 

  • Take roll of guests reporting each evening, noting those granted permission to leave early or report late, and give a copy to the peer support resident

  • Inspect all guest belongings and ensure that personal belongings needed for the evening only are carried in backpacks before leaving for shelter

  • Drive guests to shelter and close RITI Center at 6PM

  • Help guests get situated at shelter, update peer support resident/church coordinator as needed, and generally ensure a smooth transition from center to shelter before leaving for the evening

  • Serve as backup staff in case of emergencies, including bad weather days 

  • Assist in maintaining / updating daily as necessary all Guest records in Trello

  • Assist with empowering guests to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness of van, RITI Center & Shelter

  • Assist with planning/providing occasional recreation activities for guests

  • Assist in management of material donations 

  • Make referrals to community resources

  • Communicate with Case-management and ED about needs of guests

Job Requirements
Education and Experience

Experience with individuals with chronic mental health, substance use disorders, and other special needs arising from fragile and precarious life circumstances preferred

General

Clean driving record and current driver’s license 

Clean criminal background and sex offender check

Caring, respectful attitude toward all

Ability to build healthy relationships with diverse people

Commitment to follow policies and procedures consistently

Understanding of personal limitations and capacity for self-care

Ability to maintain records and collect data
